OPPORTUNITIES FOR PASTORAL CARE AND CHAPLAINCY WORKERS
THE ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBLIN IS SEEKING TO FILL ONE FULL-TIME VACANCY ON
A TWO-YEAR FIXED TERM BASIS. THIS ROLE FORMS PART OF THE PASTORAL CARE
AND CHAPLAINCY SERVICE TEAM FOR TU DUBLIN (TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
DUBLIN).
ROLE: PASTORAL CARE AND CHAPLAINCY WORKER (PCCW) ?
This role forms part of the Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Service
(PCCS) team being delivered to TU Dublin. The post offers dual support
service as they provide both pastoral care and chaplaincy support for
students and staff. The role will complement existing student support
services and provide associated social, emotional and spiritual
support including holistic pastoral care.
REPORTING TO THE PCCS TEAM CO-ORDINATOR THE PCCW WILL:
Provide pastoral care to the students and staff of one of the colleges
of TU Dublin. This will involve initiating direct contact with
students, particularly those transitioning to university life. The
PCCW will offer a bridge to and support for other professional
services on campus, while recognising and responding to the specific
needs experienced by students throughout the academic year.
The PCCW will provide a chaplaincy service and he/she will have the
capacity to respond, intervene and be present at times of trauma,
crisis, illness and grief affecting students of all faiths and none.
The PCCW will work closely with other Pastoral Care Services as well
as the Students Union in relevant campaigns such as social justice,
health and wellbeing.
The PCCW will use their initiative to create a greater sense of
community among students
REQUIRED:
The successful candidate will have:
* At least a level 8 Honours degree qualification in at least one of
the following disciplines: counselling, psychotherapy, social care,
sociology and chaplaincy related subjects,
* Formal training for ministry preferably at a post-graduate level,
* Work/life experience in multicultural settings,
* Work experience in a third level educational setting,
* Relevant pastoral experience,
* Evidence of designing and executing training courses,
* Ability to enter, update and maintain records
* An ability to use IT to enhance all aspects of their role,
* Full Drivers licence and use of a car.
